Manta - Landsailer

Landsailers may just be the ultimate wind toy. Buckle yourself down and whisk off to speeds in excess of 60 mph in a moderate breeze. High performance landsailers are capable of speeds over 95 mph. There are no motors to run or fuel to buy. The vehicles harness the wind and can accelerate you to 2-2.5 times the speed of the wind.

To take full advantage of a landsailer's capabilities, you will need a wide, flat, open area with wind speeds between 10-25 mph. Since these are non-motorized vehicles, there are fewer restrictions on where you can use them.

Learning to landsail is relatively easy. We have taught many novices in 1-2 hours. Make sure you practice in light wind conditions (under 10 mph) first. Unlike kite buggies, you do not have to be a stunt kite flier to landsail. There are no lines to adjust and tangle; simply steer the vehicle with your feet and adjust the sail with your hands.

The Manta Windjammer is a single seat landsailer based upon materials and design concepts from ultralight gliders. The Manta is light enough to hand carry, yet so potent it can break the speed limit with nothing more that wind power. The combination of portability and performance has made Manta the #1 selling landsailer in the world.

The Windjammer does not require elaborate preparations or handling. A single person can set it up in less than 15 minutes. Its tight six foot turning radius makes it extremely maneuverable on a variety of surfaces and locations. There is no need to set up flight lines or launch a kite to get rolling. The chassis is constructed from tempered silicon-magnesium-aluminum alloy. It weighs 55 lbs and measures 7' long x 6' wide. The mast and boom weighs 15 lbs and is fitted with a fully battened 45 sq ft sail made from 3.8 oz Dacron. The landsailer can be easily transported on any standard cartop rack and stores upright against a garage wall taking up less than 1' x 6' of space.

All Mantas are custom made to order in your choice of sail colors. Allow 3-4 weeks for delivery. They are shipped in kit form and easily assembled in 3-4 hours using basic hand tools.
